Another very low-key episode of Mairimashita! Iruma-kun. And one that digs deep into the bottomless character pool. These eps are always a pleasure to watch, since this is a mode the series is very much at home in. But not so easy to write about. There’s not a whole lot I can add to this sort of episode – if you watched it you got it. It does probably have the distinction of the most speaking roles for Babyls teachers, I’ll say that much.
The A-part finds Iruma-kun taking a tour of the teacher dormitory. Which is a thing, as we find out. Iruma finds a brochure about it at home and Sullivan immediately jumps off his interest and arranges a tour. Dantalian Dali-sensei – he’s the head teacher, if you recall – leads the tour. Kallego-sensei is accompanying, just because. And just because he’s Kallego-sensei he turns the whole thing into a kind of inspection. And he’s got plenty to inspect too, since the teachers – the guys, anyway – pretty much live like college students.
Iruma not being the judgmental type to say the least is perfectly fine with all this. And as most boys his age would he finds this kind of lifestyle ultra-cool. Especially when Robin-sensei whips up a stew of some sort, and it turns out he’s a rather good cook. Iruma is like one of those guys who grew up with a bunch of siblings and spends the rest of his life fighting for every scrap of food at the table – he never passes up an opportunity to eat. Even Kallego joins in, and the others are stunned to hear he’s never had cup noodles. He still hasn’t, but Cerberus may now have a taste for them.
After the eyecatch it’s the girls’ turn, as the magic apparatus battler (i.e. girls’ club) has a meeting. And with Kerori busy on demidol duty, Ameri recruits Naphula to join. I’m sure we must have seen her human form at some point and I’d just forgotten it, but I was quite stunned to see what a looker she was. Not much of a talker, though. Nee-san takes the opportunity to give the others a lesson on how to reel in the boys using the four fundamentals (horns, tail, clothes and shoes). But when she tries to play hardball with short skirts, it’s clear the others aren’t ready for that yet.
