“My Rose-Colored Life/For You” “There were two children. One of them wanted to be a boy. One of them wanted to be a girl. One of them stopped wanting to be a boy. That’s all there is to it.” Since Takako-sensei has chosen to sum up Hourou Musuko herself in […] Read more
Well, that was a shame, really. It’s hard to find too much to say about Arata Kangatari, really, because the whole enterprise speaks more to the potential it left untapped than to anything that appeared on screen. The finale, like the rest of the series, was perfectly fine for what […] Read more
Chalk this one up as another ending that wasn’t. I’ll always have a real affection for Haiyore! Nyaruko-san, because it was the first series that really went at Ishihara Shintaro head on, and the only one that’s savaged him the way he deserves to be savaged. That episode in the […] Read more
For me, among the myriad questions facing this finale one stood out – would Gen finally answer one of his own questions? Short answer: Yes (pretty much). Long answer: Well… Still mostly yes, I think. Gen Urobuchi promised this would be a different sort of series than we’re used to […] Read more

It hasn’t escaped my notice that the first three Series Review posts […] Read more
Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge is a series that was always true to itself, and the finale is no exception. The best series of Spring 2013 comes to an end, and it really shouldn’t be any surprise that it did so in brilliant fashion. We see so many misfires in […] Read more

The frozen time will start to move. And that is when everything will begin… I’ve puzzled a bit over how to approach this post – a series review that isn’t really a series review, for a show that doesn’t neatly fit into the box anyone (new viewer or veteran Buster) […] Read more
Series like Ginga e Kickoff are a reminder of just how much an anime can come to mean to you after a while. I was looking forward very much to this finale, long-delayed from the original airing as it is – and yet, dreading it too. To be honest I […] Read more
