Kyoukai no Rinne is emerging as one of the sleepers of the season. Sort of. I don’t know if Kyoukai no Rinne is just growing on me, of if the anime is better than the manga. Either way I find myself not just enjoying this series more week upon week, […] Read more
I get the thought behind it, but somehow hearing “From the New World” in any other anime just feels wrong… Hibike! Euphonium is a bit of an odd duck, and a stern test for the three-episode rule. The word that keeps recurring when I consider this show s “abstract”. In […] Read more
I suspect this is another one of those Fate eps where mainstream opinion and myself are two ships passing in the night. I confess I almost bailed on this episode a couple of times, but I’m glad I stuck it out because the last three minutes or so were the […] Read more
The tennis hierarchy is becoming clear. Atsushi made a comment in the premiere about how Alex is “in another world” from the amateur players at Florida Tennis Academy. And while that’s certainly true, one could look at the events of this episode and conclude that there’s no narrower a gap […] Read more
One thing’s for sure – this is a big, big story and we’re only just scratching the surface. The news dropped this week that this adaptation of Arslan Senki is going to be 25 episodes. That’s a classic “good news, bad news” scenario in that I certainly hoped it would […] Read more
“The House of Black and White” I confess, I broke and watched this episode a day early. But I have a good excuse – my back went out and I’ve been basically bedridden with nothing to do. That makes it even harder to resist jumping right into 43 and 44 […] Read more
And sometimes the three-episode rule is plenty. Plastic Memories – 03 I’m afraid this is the end of the line for me with Plastic Memories, at least in terms of blogging it – I’ll watch another ep or two to see if it surprises me, but I’m increasingly convinced that […] Read more
Sometimes, the three-episode rule just isn’t enough. I’m still not sure where I stand with Owari no Seraph. On the downside, it does seem to be getting progressively more conventional with every episode. But there’s a creative spark behind the series that I find quite appealing – the art design […] Read more
You can’t spell “Shameless” without without the “SH” in “Shoukugeki”. Or something… I’ll give J.C. Staff credit here, because they’re delivering the goods with Shokugeki no Souma for better and worse. This is a studio known for faithful adaptations (along with Pierrot probably the most faithful on average, I’d say) […] Read more
For the second time in two weeks, Punchline has surprised me. I’m still not fully sure what we’ve got in Punchline, but I am sure that it seems to be missing the mark with most of the anime audience. That’s not remotely surprising given how little it resembles the bulk […] Read more
