Unfortunately anime has no regard for the vagaries of my schedule. Though said schedule is rather bereft this season, I’m not especially buying what Ranma ½ is selling the last couple of episodes. Mildly amusing is about the best I can conjure up, and not in a fashion that’s especially easy to write about either. I tend to drift in and out with this series but the trend overall is generally downwards as it starts to repeat itself.

It certainly doesn’t help when it focused on characters that I’m not especially in love with. Or that the cast has quite a few of those if I’m brutally honest. I’d lump both Kunou siblings in that group, and Hikaru the perv as well. Funny is personal, and I never find anything this trio do that funny. If I had to choose Kodachi is the best of the bunch – she at least makes me chuckle here and there. But in addition to being mostly unfunny none of them are likable either. Add a dose of Happousai and it’s a recipe for indifference.

Indeed, the only time I really laughed here was when “Mr. Turtle” turned out to be a crocodile – a detail I’d forgotten. The rest of it was all pretty forgettable. I’m probably close to an “as needs” basis for coverage at this stage – I don’t see a whole lot of point in weekly posts if things stay at this level. But as ever, I reserve the right to change my mind.
