She still isn’t my favorite character, but Mikan sure is a lot more fun when she’s the one getting trolled… Read more

The Studio Files: Manglobe
Studios are pretty important when it comes to anime, so I thought I’d take some time to talk about a few of them. First up is Manglobe – underappreciated, often misunderstood, but almost never less than interesting. Read more
Akagami no Shirayukihime – 10
Why isn’t the opposite of low-key “high-key”, anyway? I wonder about stuff like that… Something felt just a bit off to me about this episode of Akagami no Shirayukihime. I find myself starting to notice the series is seemingly clueless about to handle certain characters (Kiki and Ryuu principally) whose […] Read more
Diamond no Ace Season 2 – 23
This is not the first time in Diamond no Ace that I’ve wanted to shout “Stop bunting, you idiot!” at Kataoka. And if the series continues in anime form (as I strongly suspect it will at some point) I very much doubt it will be the last. Read more

Baby Steps Season 2 – 23
Every time we’re tempted to forget the title of this series, Baby Steps reminds us. Curses to three-minute recaps. Mushishi Zoku Shou: Suzu no Shizuku
How can I possibly start my final Mushishi post ever with anything except “Thank you”? OP Sequence: I just need a minute, I’ll be fine. Honest. I put off watching “Suzu no Shizuku” for quite some time. Part of it was going through a very busy patch and not wanting […] Read more
Working!!! – 10
Remember all that stuff I said about Souta’s mom last week? Never mind. Working has always been an anime comedy with great chops – it could range all over the stylistic palette and deliver spot-on humor. What we’re seeing more than ever this season (though not exclusively this season) is […] Read more
Ushio to Tora – 10
You’re just not going to see an anime episode executed much better than that. There have been a few instances now where Ushio & Tora has flat-out nailed it – delivered an episode of old-school shounen as close to perfect as it’s realistically possible to make. It hasn’t been every […] Read more
