Seeing it made to look so easy tends to make us forget how hard it actually is. I think it’s best to look at last week’s Akagami no Shirayukihime as if the last two minutes were all that really mattered, both because the rest of it was so forgettable and […] Read more
Flushing Meadows and the Kanto Junior aren’t the only places where it’s Showdown Sunday… Arslan Senki had a resolutely discernible strategy for this episode – simplify. There’s been a lot of preamble, politics and permutations building up to this point, but that was pretty much all stripped away this week, […] Read more
I’m still not buying the natto thing, and tomalley? Blech. But the rest of this week’s Shokugeki no Souma was pretty tasty. Read more
It’s great to have Gangsta back, but it sure isn’t getting any easier to watch. I did a short piece on Manglobe for MAL recently, and it really hammered home for me just how unusual this studio is. I won’t go so far as to say every show they make […] Read more

That must have been some dream… Any week when you get Nakamura Yuiichi and especially Miki Shinichirou back when you figured they were gone for good is a nice episode. But this week’s Ushio & Tora was a good effort all the way around, using a really clever way to […] Read more
Sometimes it takes a little spirit possession to let our true natures show themselves. A funny thing happened in the world of Kyoukai no Rinne this week. Weekly Shounen Sunday announced that Rinne will have an “important announcement” in the next issue (yes, an announcement of an announcement – a […] Read more
You knew it had to be coming sooner or later… Here’s my basic feeling after this episode of Ore Monogatari. It was inevitable that we get an episode focused on a love rival for Takeo sooner or later. It was an episode built around the least interesting relationship amongst the […] Read more
