Seriously? I mean – seriously?? I think it’s probably official at this point – Diamond no Ace has pissed me off more than any other show I’ve watched for this long. And I don’t man mild irritation, I mean really genuinely pissed off. It’s almost become cyclical at this point […] Read more
So far Tekketsu no Orphans is sticking pretty close to the template, but it seems to be working. I had a chance to see Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterun da (Anthem of the Heart) this weekend, which I bring up here because like Iron-Blooded Orphans, it’s a collaboration between Nagai Tatsuyuki and […] Read more
I give up – more or less. You know, the truth is I still can’t make sense out of Concrete Revolutio. It’s not so much that the narrative is confusing – though it certainly is – but the series itself. I like to find the rationale in things, and in […] Read more
One Punch Man seems to have found its stride. It sounds funny to say about a show I’ve been enjoying as much as One Punch Man, but the last two episodes have felt like a real turning point. For the first month that enjoyment was mostly superficial – laughing at […] Read more

Well, that certainly got intense pretty fast. This was a pretty big week on Ushio & Tora – the kind of week that can often lead to a letdown. Payoffs after long built-up events have a way of disappointing, and expectations a way of becoming a curse. When you allow […] Read more
I can only imagine the polarization of the audience for Subete ga F ni Naru is going to get wider after an episode like that. Thank goodness for Subete ga F no Naru, you know? It has its flaws I won’t deny, but it’s really the only series this season […] Read more
“Duo Derby” It’s been a pretty good stretch for anime announcements for manga I want to see adapted, most of which I mentioned in this article a few months back. One of them, Boku no Hero Academia, was a lock to happen of course, and there’s still no word on […] Read more
