Boku no Hero Academia Season 5 – 06

These training battle eps aren’t too easy to write about, I have to say.

  • Fungus in the lungs always struck me as a low blow in a tournament where seriously injuring or putting your opponent’s life in danger must surely be prohibited.  Two to three hours?  That’s not much consolation if you’re the one who can’t breathe.
  • Ishikawa Kaito as Manga Fukidashi was certainly a surprise.  Fukidashi always struck me as having one of the most ingeniously ludicrous quirks in BnHA – it’s perfect for this sort of series.
  • Kendo is definitely the brains of the operation for Class B here, just as Yaoyarozu is for Class A.  But it’s still Kinoko who pretty much decides the match single-handedly.
  • While I expounded on Dark Shadow’s strengths last time, one of its weaknesses is that Fumikage hasn’t really figured out how to use it to support teammates yet.  It’s still too much of a wildcard, generally speaking – overloaded with untapped potential.  But if Tokoyami ever taps it, look out.

We all know what this is building towards, but there are some big players to come in the next couple of matches too.  And let’s face it, there wouldn’t be much drama if Team Deku took the stage with 1-A leading 4-nil.

I think there’s a ship for Shouto and Yaoyorozu.

  2. I don’t think there are many in the fandom that don’t.

We’re kinda hard-wired to think that Class A > Class B because A is the MC’s class (and A comes before B alphabetically, is a better grade academically, yadda yadda) but some of Class B’s quirks are infinitely better than Class A’s.

I guess if they replaced all the rejects in A with the good quirks from B there wouldn’t be any balance between the two classes, though.

  4. Collectively, I would take A’s quirks over Bs quirks. Individually there are definitely quirks in B I’d take over some of the ones in A.

Still interested why horikoshi make plain quirk like tape or tail for class A. I mean, compared to wind from other schools…
