Raise your hand if you didn’t see that troll coming… I had a pretty good season for sleepers this Summer. Two of my three picks (this series and Majimoji Rurumo) wound up being not just watchable but among the very best series of the season. It was also a good […] Read more
End? Yeah, right! If you’d told me one sports anime was going to have a second season end card today, I’d sure have bet on the one that didn’t rather than the one that did. But fans of Haikyuu!! (in honor of the final episode I’ll use the exclamation points, […] Read more
Never have I been happier to fill in the title line. I hardly know where to begin, really. I’m stunned, for starters. Flabbergasted. Elated. Grateful. Never happier to be wrong. When something you want very badly but seems so unlikely you don’t even allow yourself to hope for it happens, […] Read more
I’m sad to see Captain Earth come to an end, but on the plus side at least we won’t have to hear the nonstop bitching and complaining every week. Well, for a series that was more BONES than BONES in ways both good and bad, it seems only fitting that […] Read more

The most surprising series of Spring 2014 ends pretty much as expected, but that’s not a problem for me. Gaworare has been an odd series right from the start, and in the final analysis quite a different sort of show than I expected. It a sense it’s as if I […] Read more
Even by Byrnhildr standards, that was an unholy mess. What – you you expecting something different? Take a series that’s batshit crazy to begin with, and add trying to do a complete adaptation of 9 volumes (and counting) in 13 episodes and what do you get? One of the most […] Read more
