Turns out LiA readers mostly agree with Shounen Jump readers. No real surprises in the H x H poll – I’ve yet to see one where Killua didn’t come out on top. In the SJ polls from Japan, Kurapika sometimes finishes ahead of Gon, and Hisoka has never finished as […] Read more
It’s just not fair for a show to be this good for this long. How am I supposed to keep thinking of new things to say? If the format or style of my Hunter X Hunter posts changes at all, it’s not because my affection for the show has diminished […] Read more
If there’s a pure shounen heaven, surely this episode of Hunter X Hunter must be it. I keep making the mistake of thinking that Madhouse can’t keep topping themselves, but Madhouse keeps topping themselves. I don’t know how they do it – or how Togashi did it, for that matter […] Read more
Koi!! Two thoughts come to mind immediately: I knew there was a reason I always hated dodgeball whenever we played it in gym If ever there was a sport Gon was born to play, dodgeball is it This is one of those episodes in the manga/OVA that’s so legendary, even […] Read more
No matter how great Hunter X Hunter is, it can always be made just a little better by adding a little Hisoka to the mix. Sorry to bore you, but I just have no choice but to lavish some more praise on Togashi Yoshihiro. This episode (which apparently consisted of […] Read more

It’s not like this is any big news or anything, but Gon and Killua are certainly very different people. Before we launch into this episode, there was some interesting news from Shounen Jump this week. ANN worded it this way: A blurb in this year’s 12th issue of Shueisha‘s Weekly […] Read more
Who knew the scariest opponent Killua has faced so far would only have one arm? I know some of the manga audience has been complaining about the pacing of “Greed Island” in this version, but for me it’s been rock-solid – to be honest if I didn’t know what I’d […] Read more
This was a pretty damn good week to be Madhouse Studios, that’s for sure. I apologize, but I fear I really am running out of good things to say about Hunter X Hunter 2011. It’s just so damn good, week after week after week – I think we’re getting into […] Read more
Damn, Togashi is really a geek. I never realized it before now, but Jan-Ken-Pon is actually rather important in the mythology of Hunter X Hunter. In a funny sort of way, I think Janken is symbolic of the series itself – seemingly straightforward and simple, but actually quite intense and […] Read more
