Once again, that’s 10:55 AM. On Sunday. Sleep well tonight, Kids. Hunter X Hunter continues to pretty well re-define excellence, in ways old and new. Of course it’s still brilliant both in terms of writing and the execution of the adaptation – but that’s been true for the last 20 […] Read more
I just want to reiterate – this is airing at 10:55 in the morning… I was mentally prepared for the kind of sea change that was coming to Hunter X Hunter after the “Greed island” arc ended – I’d certainly read enough about it. But knowing it and experiencing are […] Read more
Even for a Togashi series, it’s incredible just how much the tone of Hunter X Hunter has shifted seemingly in the blink of an eye. I hate to keep using the word “somber” but it just keeps leaping into my mind unbidden as I watch the “Chimera Ant” arc unfold. […] Read more
Only two episodes in, it’s clear that “Chimera Ant” is nothing like what’s come before. Welcome to the dark side of Togashi Yoshihiro’s mind. And since we’ve already seen some dark places in Hunter X Hunter, the fact that this arc seems such a dramatic tonal shift should give a […] Read more

One step closer to H x H history… The characters names don’t mean too much to me for the most part, but the Chimera Ant cast is an interesting one. As always Madhouse has gone with a share of industry heavy-hitters here – Miki Shinichiro is the name that stands […] Read more
The more things change, the more they stay the same… It’s a transitional week in anime – in fact due to Spring generally having the biggest slate of new series this is usually the craziest week of the year. Shows ending, new shows beginning by the dozens, hellos and goodbyes […] Read more
The hits just keep on coming – in every way. You and I have met here before, Dear Reader, and danced this dance. Incredible suspense, spectacular character modeling and combat animation, perfect pacing – blah, blah, blah. But my not saying it again wouldn’t make it any less true. Madhouse […] Read more
Thanks, Hisoka – I’ll never look at a telescope the same way again… To be honest, I’m pretty burned out at the moment. It’s been a pretty intense anime weekend – in addition to Tokyo Anime Fair (pics later) and Chihayafuru, we also had three major finales. And the Shin […] Read more
