OK, you can start the series now – Khamsin has arrived. Shakugan no Shana III – 07 No question, this was the best Shana episode of the season so far for me. I’m that rare specimen that actually likes Yoshida, so it was nice to see her get some development […] Read more
Tamayura Hitotose – 07 When I hear a phrase like “Road of Aspiration” I always think there must be no proper English translation for what was intended in the original Japanese. In any case, the matter in question is a local festival in Takehara, not dissimilar to other matsuri we’ve […] Read more
Shakugan no Shana III – 06 We’re still basically in setup mode with Shakugan no Shana, though the episodes are moving briskly enough to be interesting. Outlaw is preparing for the climactic battle with Bal Masque in Tokyo. When I see anyone try to organize flame hazes, I’m always reminded […] Read more
Slice of life Tuesday Wednesday… Kimi to Boku – 06 This was definitely one of the more amusing eps of Kimi to Boku so far, maybe the best overall. It’s still ungodly slow, but the intermittent flare-ups of a welcome quirkiness to the humor were more evident this week. Starting […] Read more
Shakugan no Shana III – 05 Shana is certainly testing my memory. All kinds of faces I haven’t seen for ages are turning up again, and it’s an effort to place them all in context as I frankly didn’t pay very close attention once the second season started to slide […] Read more
Aces wild! Kimi to Boku – 05 Chizuru is one weird kid. Of course they’re all sort of weird with this show, but he’s the weirdest – and also remains the only really interesting character on the show. I’ve seen the Matsuri episode done a hundred times, of course, and […] Read more
Shakugan no Shana – 04 Well, that’s more like it. After a couple of frankly pretty sleepy episodes, Shana finally kicks into high hear with a fast-paced, well-animated episode that was very reminiscent of the first season. The throwdown between Yuji and Shana was interesting, but really only the tip […] Read more
Slice-of-life Tuesday time… Kimi to Boku – 04 The little spark Chizuru provided to this series is still there, sort of, but while this episode was still an improvement over the first two it was rather pedestrian. Basically, the entire episode dealt with Kaname having a cold as a result […] Read more
Gundame AGE – 03 Nothing terribly groundbreaking in this week’s episode of Gundam AGE. Just about everything one might have predicted would happen did. Commander Bruzar sacrificed himself for the colony, though the specifics were interesting. Thank goodness there happened to be an extra command center after the first one […] Read more
Persona 4 – The Animation – 03 To be honest, I’m just not getting much from Persona 4. I’ve been following the comments here and elsewhere, and while the general trend has been mildly positive I can’t recall a single glowing post from someone who hasn’t played the game – […] Read more
