Sometimes the three-episode rule simply isn’t enough. Nobunagun – 03 It was a bit of a thematic change-of-pace for Nobunagaun this week with a training episode, but the series as a whole is in a bit of a holding pattern for me. It’s marginally more interesting in execution than it […] Read more
It’s been quite a week for Wake Up, Girls, even before it aired. Golden Time – 14 I’m not sure where I stand with Golden Time at the moment, to be honest. Is demotion to a digest post a precursor to termination? Yeah, that’s possible – in all honesty it […] Read more
Two episodes in, I’m still not sure if there’s a reason this season of Chuunibyou exists apart from the obvious commercial one. Chuunibyou 2 – 02 I remain on the fence about blogging this season of Chuunibyou. There was nothing especially wrong with this week’s episode, just as there was […] Read more
Context is everything I suppose – and Tonari no Seki-kun is looking a lot better than it did a week ago. Tonari no Seki-kun – 02 Since Tonari no Seki-kun is looking like the best comedy of the season even at 5 minutes (unless you consider Space Dandy a pure […] Read more

If action is your thing, these two shows offered up plenty to smile about this week. Yozakura Quartet ~Hana no Uta – 07 I hate to be a broken record (do people still get that reference? Well – even a broken clock is right twice a day…), but Hana no […] Read more
That was an episode that put the “epic” in historical epic. Kingdom 2 – 23 Bad CGI and all, this last sequence of battles has been one of the best I’ve seen in anime for a long time. Admittedly that’s a pretty low bar since hardly anyone is doing this […] Read more
Meng Tian has certainly been the conspicuously absent figure over the last few episodes of Kingdom, but it was always only a matter of time before he made his presence felt in a big way. Kingdom 2 – 22 I’ve had the feeling for a while that Meng Tian was […] Read more
One stays, one goes. Kyoukai no Kanata – 05 It’s funny, but somewhere along the line KyouKan has leveled up a little and it’s hard to say exactly why. The last two eps have certainly been the best – it’s a bit more self-apparent with #4, which was simply the […] Read more
