Seki-kun wins! Kanojo ga Flag o Oraretara – 05 The phrase that leaps to mind for Gawoware is “curiously compelling”. Surely, this is one of the strangest series of the year. That’s not enough to make a show worthwhile on its own, obviously, but it is interesting – and so […] Read more
Why can’t all of Sidonia no Kishi look like the eyecatches? Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou – 05 We’re almost at the halfway point of this series, so the decision really can’t be dragged out much longer. But more and more Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou is looking like one of those […] Read more
Yokoi wins! Kanojo ga Flag o Oraretara – 04 Well now – thinks got pretty serious there for a bit. This is a bit of a funny show, Gaworare is (funny-unusual, though it is pretty funny-“ha ha” as well). It’s uncommon to see a series where the canon plot and […] Read more
Hunter X Hunter is back! No, it has nothing to do with either show, Just felt like repeating it. Kanojo ga Flag wo Oraretara – 03 I officially like this show. Yeah, it’s pretty lowbrow in most respects, but it ain’t brainless, believe me. This is a very clever show […] Read more

Some shows have the merit of at least making mediocrity look good. Escha & Logy no Atelier – 01 Escha & Logy has an interesting history – it’s the 15th game in an RPG series called “Atelier”, though the first to get an anime adaptation. I already had some interest […] Read more
As Yin and Yang shows go, these two are pretty Yin-Yang-y. Ryuugajou Nanana no Maizoukin – 01 I’m at the point now where I pretty much look at NoitaminA as just another hour on the schedule. Why? Because there’s clearly no longer a broad mandate to air a certain type […] Read more
Two LN adaptations, and it’s the original series that’s by far the worst show here. Go figure. No Game No Life – 01 This is the premiere that seems to have generated the most buzz this week, and in a sense I can understand why – it’s executed with a […] Read more
I don’t deny the real title is factually accurate, but I really think this should have been called Soul Eater Why?? Mangaka-san to Assistant-san to – 01 Mangaka-san to Assistant-san is about as straightforward as it gets. This is ecchi and silly and makes no pretense at being anything else, […] Read more
