Let’s give this format a shot and see how it turns out… Diamond no Ace – 39 In the never-ending quest to try and survive Sundays, I thought I’d combine two sports shows this week, as they certainly make sense as a thematic pairing for a digest post. I definitely […] Read more
Thursdays are a ruthless, savage battleground this season. Shirogane no Ishi Argevollen – 02 Thursdays have always tended to be one of the two busiest days for decent anime, thanks in part to the former tradition of NoitaminA having two shows every season worth following. This season is a prime […] Read more
When it comes to anime blogging, weekends are survival of the fittest. Haikyuu!! – 14 The new season has me in a bit of a pinch, schedule-wise. Sundays were (as usual) the busiest day of the week last season, and that problem has only gotten worse with most of my […] Read more
Here’s a couple of premieres from substantially farther down the expectations list. Rail Wars! – 01 It’s fair to say I didn’t come into Rail Wars! with huge expectations, but as someone who loves trains and generally dislikes privatization, the idea of a series where JR was still government-owned and […] Read more
A squirrel or a bust – which would you choose, Akari? Sidonia no Kishi – 10 I’m quite stumped as to where Sidonia no Kishi is headed with only three episodes left. The story is definitely still in the expansion phase with no signs of that reversing soon, and the […] Read more

Sidonia no Kishi – 09 There was an interesting development in the world of Sidonia no Kishi this […] Read more
Seki-kun is really raising the bar every week. The show, too. Kanojo ga Flag wo Oraretara – 07 This is a pretty odd series to begin with, but I found that episode especially strange. There were quite a few moments when I was rather confused as to what was happening […] Read more
Sci-fi Saturday indeed… Sidonia no Kishi – 06 I hesitate to group these two shows together in a single post, because it’s not really fair to either of them – apart from both being science fiction there isn’t much that links them, and the constant comparisons are more than a […] Read more
Oh yeah, Yokoi is hopelessly ensnared now. Tonari no Seki-kun – 19 The little show that could just keeps delivering. This is very much the same sort of impact the manga has – it’s just these brilliant little observations one right after the other, wearing down your resistance until you’re […] Read more
The most damning of all faint praise – “it could have been worse”… Soredemo Sekai wa Utsukushii – 06 I was tempted to limit my review of Soredemo Sekai to a single sentence this week – “The less I say about this episode the better.” But the truth is by […] Read more
