The only constant in life is change. As you know if you’ve read any of my recent episodic posts, I’ve moved house recently. This time it’s down to Kyoto, where the search for long-term employment in Japan continues (if anyone knows anyone and would care to introduce me…). It’s hard […] Read more
Oh, this is one hell of a mess we have building up here. We can’t yet know exactly what shape the splatter is going to take, of course, but it’s obvious that the shit is getting very close to hitting the fan. And I expect things to get pretty […] Read more
Talk about arriving just in the nick of time… Update: To my not at all surprise, Diamond no Ace had a sequel announced today. No word on length, but it appears to be starting in April so no interruption. This episode of Diamond no Ace begs the question – is […] Read more
Back to the old grind at Quincdecim – or is it? This is moving weekend for me, so my apologies for both the lateness and brevity of its posts. I’m actually using my time on the Shinkansen to try and catch up a little bit, since I’ve been running nonstop […] Read more
I’m in the process of moving this weekend, which is why posts have been delayed a bit. But upon arriving at my new place, which is an apartment building with shared wifi, I’ve discovered that among other things it doesn’t allow me to access my remote PC server. As such, […] Read more
Honestly, between the first and second halves of this season of Tokyo Ghoul √A, it’s almost hard to believe it’s the same series. Watching Tokyo Ghoul this season has certainly been an odd experience. The first half of the season was almost like a band releasing an album of B-sides […] Read more
Well, damn. Make no mistake about it: that was a fucking bloodbath. Eminently predictable, yes, but pretty shocking just the same. And it felt like it lasted about five minutes, there was so little time to breathe. Normally if I say there was very little about the episode that surprised […] Read more
I miss Gero-san… It’s a bit of crazy week for me so some of the posts are going to be a bit short, including this one. Sorry about that… I’d judge this to be the most “serious” episode of Binan Kouko so far. It certainly dealt with the most serious […] Read more
AOkatsuki no YOONa is still going strong. For a series with as great a main couple as this one has, it’s amazing how a couple of supporting characters can mount an insurrection and steal the show week after week. But that’s exactly what the tensai bishounen and the squirrel are […] Read more
It’s tough out there for a tengu – in anime-land, anyway. Kamisama Hajimemashita takes a definite detour off its main course for the first time this season, and as much as I’ve enjoyed the recurring Tomoe-Nanami-Akura-oh plot, I think it’s for the better. This series has always fared well with […] Read more
