Every day is special in Kyoto. Nothing too much to say about these – it’s just a collection of some odds and ends from the last couple of weeks in Kansai. There are some shots of Chushojima, the historic sake district in South Kyoto, as well as Uji (a return […] Read more
There are no mysteries and very few surprises with Haikyuu, but that’s certainly not a bad thing. There’s no question in my mind that Haikyuu is the spiritual successor to Ookiku Furikabutte (which is actually still ongoing). They’re both series that celebrate the loveable goofiness of the teenage male to […] Read more
One step forward, one step back? After what was the best episode of the season for Durarara, I had respectably high hopes that we were looking at a resurgence of he enthusiasm the first season generated – at least the levels the second cour did, anyway. But this one left […] Read more
There are times when Diamond no Ace really tries my patience, and this is one of them. Here’s the question I’d ask a this point in the story. How bad a coach – and character – does Kataoka have to be if it takes a straw man like Ochiai to […] Read more

Two old haunts, seen in a new light (one in a new dark). Here’s some pics from yesterday’s excursion to Higashiyama. I’ve been to both these places on many an occasion – Kiyomizudera is among my favorite places in Japan, in fact – but because Hanatoro is still going on, […] Read more
I’m left wondering if the things I thought and felt about that episode were what its creators intended. That certainly lived up to its billing, on the whole. There were elements of this week’s episode-encompassing fight scene that were animated unevenly, but on the whole it was visually excellent – […] Read more
Not a rolling stone in sight. One thing I’ve definitely found out over the years is that weather is a huge component of photography. It’s true even if you have the best equipment in the world, but if you’re skating by on the bare minimum, it’s even more of a […] Read more
Pretty tough to fight on without your right-hand man. It’s been a bit left behind as the scope of the story has broadened in recent weeks, but the center of Parasyte has always been the relationship between Shinichi and Migi. If this is a show about the relationship between humans […] Read more
