To a wise man, a foolish man is first and foremost an opportunity. OP2: “Uzu to Uzu” (渦と渦) by NICO Touches the Walls After a recap episode (frankly I didn’t mind one bit, given the craziness of the first week of a new season) Arslan Senki powers back into action […] Read more
Which Maeda Jun or are going to get here, I wonder? Charlotte – 02 For starters, I thought the second episode of Charlotte was clearly better than the first. The humor was hit and miss and the A-part was a bit draggy, but when things ratcheted up a few levels […] Read more
Souta’s life just doesn’t get any easier… “Serious” is a relative term when it comes to Working, but this episode definitely was one of the more restrained in the series’ canon. The eps focused on the Takanashi family situation often feel at a remove from the rest of the series, […] Read more
“We must hurry! Protect the urine!” Aoharu X Kikanjuu – 02 I have to admit I got pretty bored by the latter stages of this ep of Aoharu X Kikanjuu. I still quite like the visual style, but I don’t find any of the characters especially interesting and the execution […] Read more
How can Prison School be exactly what I was expecting when I had no idea what to expect? Having watched that utterly preposterous and offensive premiere, I’m beginning to understand why so many people seem to have a hard time explaining just what this series is. Is it satire? Is […] Read more
Just wait till your father gets home… It’s funny, the things that run through our minds when watching anime. Last week I said Hatanaka Tasuku put me in mind of a cross between Satoshi Hino and Kakihara Tetsuya, but through all this episode I kept hearing Miyu Irino (that’s one […] Read more
Gangsta as a series is a whole lot like Nicolas Brown’s voice. I really like Gangsta, for a whole myriad of reasons. It’s yet another throwback series, very much a relic of what anime was like 15 years ago (and I’m old enough to remember). I’ve said this is a […] Read more
To borrow a thoroughly overused phrase: WTF did I just watch? I have pretty much no idea how to take this episode of Game of Laplace, which was surely one of the oddest 22 minutes of anime I’ve seen in a very long time. There are a lot of puzzling […] Read more
A VRMMORPG? What could possibly go wrong? Himouto! Umari-chan – 01 I can sum up my reasons for giving this series a shot in two words: Oota Masahiko. And that’s no exaggeration. I can truthfully say there’s nothing else in the premise that would have made me give Himouto! Umaru-chan […] Read more
That was a hug – no take-backs. OP2: “Ura no Ura” (裏の裏; The back of the back) by Passepied Spring’s most underrated series and funniest comedy rolls into its second cour with a new OP and ED, a shift in direction, but the same spot-on comedy. There wasn’t a series […] Read more
