My Taste is Better Than Yours is back with another huge title, Urasawa Naoki’s Pluto. Already a manga institution, Pluto spawned an anime adaptation in 2023 – arguably the most anticipated (and best) in Netflix anime history. Samu and I give our thoughts on Urasawa’s work, how it reflects on the Tezuka original, and how the anime added to the mythology.
MTiBTY upcoming release schedule:
May 13 – Episode #4: Hunter x Hunter (Hunter Exam arc) by Yoshihiro Togashi
May 27 – Episode #5: Hirayasumi by Keigo Shinzo
June 10 – Episode #6: The Next Big Thing?

April 30, 2024 at 5:18 amYes! I’ve been dying to hear this one. It’s a damn good mystery that kept me involved and had me guessing all the way through, which very few mystery fiction and shows actually succeed in doing. With regards to the ending, I saw, not so long ago, an interview with Urasawa in which he describes his experience of reading ‘The greatest robot on earth’ arc. I remember he said that he felt unsatisfied by the ending because of the huge sense of loss in the story. I feel that the reactions he had when he read that arc he tried to evoke from his readers, which I think is why the ending is brief and abrupt. I certainly felt those feelings.
