Enzo and Setsuken Save Anime – Notaku Podcast #2

Notaku is back with the second edition of our reborn anime podcast.  Lots to cover this week – some big news on the anime and manga front, some of it quite disturbing.  We also figure out the future of anime (it’s complicated), manga gets it’s turn in the spotlight, and we answer a very interesting batch of listener questions.

Did you see Yuzuru Tachikawa’s AMA session on Reddit? What are your impression?

  3. Haven’t had a chance to read it through yet.

Nice to have the podcast back, because even though I disagree very often with you, always nice to hear it and sometimes I listen again the one about Sport.

If I may a little request/tip for the recommendation part, maybe writing the name of the series would help (if possible, and sorry if I may have missed it on Youtube) as, being a native French speaker, I was curious about the name of that manga but…I couldn’t get it (not a criticism of course). Ironically, I grasped it in…English! An yeah, the first 2 volumes got freshly released in July and are on my shopping list. The Setsuken comment is funny because that French publisher group is famous in France for… light novels! (that license actually surprised many people)

  5. Ah, sorry about that – I’ll make a note of that for future recommendations. I mean, it’s no surprise that my French pronunciation was awful.

I don’t think you’d regret reading Hitoribocchi. I hope it gets licensed in English some day but it seems very unlikely.

  6. Loved this

Two for two, Enzo. Lonely Alien is fantastic, and just the right length. I think you are correct on your Ghibli pick as well, although there are many other worthy films to consider.

  8. Indeed. The cool anime fans bias against Ghibli is just so misplaced.

Finding Hitoribocchi was such a random occurrence that it makes me realize how many amazing manga are out there waiting to be discovered, and how many I’ll sadly never know about. It’s an amazingly broad medium.
