Well, I thought this was the end of the Harvest Fest arc, but it looks like the cleanup work goes on another week. There’s deffo some unfinished business, but the meat of the matter was sorted through this episode. Mostly it was a return to the happy and upbeat mode Mairimiashita Iruma-kun is probably more at home in than any other when push comes to shove, even if it has an undeniably ability to surprise you by going hard in the other direction.
First, there’s the matter of the Legend Leaf. Which, as it turns out, is the leaf of a cherry tree. Which really means it’s the legend blossom that everyone is squeeing over. I don’t know if this is actually a sakura, but it sure as hell (pun intended) looks like one. And Iruma for one thinks it is – Sullivan’s reaction when he was about to say so was very suspicious, I thought. What to make of that? Sullivan knows a lot more about Derkila than he lets on (but we already knew that, or as good as). And, I suspect, this is a hint that Derkila has some connection to the human world (which helps explain his interest in Iruma). In fact kind of a fun notion that occurs to me is that Derkila was a human – and maybe all demon kings have to come from the human race…
As for the Young King issue, I guess there’s no prohibition against having two (or more) of them since Iruma and Lead both get crowns (though Iruma gets a lot more attention). They also get promoted to Dalet (duh), but a lot of other Misfits gets promoted too – to Gimmel at least. Lead and Iruma are thus cleared of having to chase Kallego-sensei’s ultimatum, though others in the class (including Clara) still have to find a way to make it happen. All in all though it’s a big win for the Misfit Class, who pretty much all of Babyls has to acknowledge at this point are the real center of power in the student body.
One of those unresolved issues, though, is the Ocho situation. Kallego obviously knows something was amiss but he doesn’t get any info out of Orobas for the simple reason that Orobas doesn’t remember anything. In fact the Broadcasting Club guy says he never saw anyone with Orobas during the festival. So we have a guy who can erase memories in addition to general mind control, and is apparently able to mask his presence on film. Kallego isn’t going to let this lie – in fact that “mission” he sent Robin-sensei on was clearly Ocho-related.
After that, it’s pretty much a love fest. Everyone lavishes their admiration on Iruma and even Lead at the afterparty, Agares gets lots of unwanted attention (for him, the only kind), Clara and Azz appoint themselves as King Iruma’s personal security. Iruma even makes Fuwa-Kallego appear to please his admirers. At home Sullivan and Opera have an after-after party planned, and Iruma realizes again how this is the first real home and real family he’s ever had in his life. Even the Valac Family make their first appearance of the season (apart from the usually-absent Urara and the still-unseen dad), though it’s sadly brief and un-musical. Only 3 eps left to get a production number…

February 13, 2023 at 1:15 pmSo, the surprise from the Legend Leaf looks like cherry blossoms, which Iruma correctly points out that there’s already one tree at the campus. Or, at least it really looks like them. Speaking of cherry blossoms, I look forward to seeing them soon around here too. Then we get a musical number that was not performed by a Valac or Ronove.
After that, it’s time for the coronation of the Young Kings. I like how the both Iruma and Lead don’t have to share it and instead they’re both Kings. They also both get promoted to Rank 4, and so they’re now in the clear as far as fulfilling the requirements to stay in the Royal One. Of course, Asmodeus is super happy that he’s the same rank as Iruma now, though he could’ve made it to Rank 5 if he wasn’t disqualified. It looks like about half the Misfit Class got promoted and so did Orobas. As I hoped, Sabnock slept through his promotion. Agares was probably jealous that Sabnock got to sleep so well… I was fun to see them celebrate with their tutors (Or, get roasted in the case of Jazz and Allocer). Bachiko was of course super proud of Iruma.
And, then it’s party time. The Dorodoro Bros finally clear things up and I liked how the Misfit Class just naturally gravitated towards each other as the party went on. Asmodeus and Clara become Iruma’s personal bodyguards and Keroli drops the queen act.
Now, it’s time to go home where there’s another party for Iruma (How much is he going to eat‽). Oh yeah, and the faculty are having their own bash. It’s not all fun as Kalego-sensei, like you said, is looking into Orobas and what happened to him. It seems he doesn’t rememeber anything about Ocho and he didn’t show up in the cameras. That was something that I was thinking about about and how nobody seemed to notice the presence of Ocho. However, it also shows what Robin-sensei was up to and it appears that he was able to track down Ocho. That’s going to have wait until the next episode. Oh yeah, and Ameri’s dad must have one heck of a vision plan considering how often he breaks his glasses.
