With many apologies for the delay, here are the results of the 2021 reader poll. It was kind of a loopy year altogether so I figured the vote would be close at the top, and spread across a lot of different series (and it was). I also knew my #1 pick (Kai Byoui Ramune) had zero chance to come out on top, though this is almost certainly the first time it hasn’t even cracked the top 10 (and that your winner didn’t make my top 10).
If there were any surprises here for me, I guess Mars Red placing so highly qualifies (I’m happy to see that), and so does Godzilla S.P. and Kingdom faring as poorly as they did. For the record, the RC top 5 (always fun to compare) was Mushoku Tensei, 86, Jujutsu Kaisen, Odd Taxi,, and Re:zero etc. etc. Part 2. There’s normally a pretty big delta between these two lists, but I think that’s especially true in years without any clear standouts. This time around only Odd Taxi managed to make both lists. In fact JJK was the only other series to make both top 10’s.
