A couple things stand out about the Winter 2019 Preview Poll results to me. The winner is the least of them – I would have been stunned if Mob Psycho 100 Season II wasn’t atop the list by a comfortable margin. More notable is just how top-heavy this poll was – the top 5 series dominated more than usual by a good margin. A couple of other interesting tidbits:
- Dororo did quite well – better than I expected in fact (4th place and just shy of 10%). But based on the premiere both the readers and myself may have sold this one short (let’s hope so).
- I was surprised Piano no Mori did so well, because I’d pretty much convinced myself based on the lack of conversation that almost no one was paying any attention.
- I’ll try and forgive Shield Hero getting more votes than Doukyonin was Hiza, Tokidoki, Atama no Ue. – but I’m going to need time…

January 9, 2019 at 2:17 pmI was charmed and surprised by Dororo, so much so that I am going back and watching Dororo ’69 in tandem. Of course I love having Mob back, and thumbs up for Emi. Anything else is going to have to win me over.

January 10, 2019 at 7:33 amI’ll be shocked if I don’t like it. I enjoy the manga and it isn’t really the sort of series that needs a genius adaptation, just not to be screwed up. I don’t think it’s great myself, just quite good, but the early volumes would be the best IMHO.
