Thanks to everyone who voted in the 2017 Best Series Poll. Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu just missed out on repeating as champion, with Made in Abyss edging it out. That mildly surprised me, but in general this year saw my list and yours match up much more closely than in 2016 – a function, I think, of the fact that there were far fewer legit contenders in 2017. In fact while only 5 series were on both lists last year, 8 were this time – and a 9th, Hoozuki no Reitetsu, wasn’t in the poll because a second cour was announced after the final episode. Your Top 5 was exactly the same as mine, with the order slightly tweaked. The biggest difference on these lists, certainly, was the presence of Houseki no Kuni at #6 in the reader poll – a series which I dropped about halfway through. Sometimes these things do happen.
