Shoot, I think I’ve figured out what you were talking about… We’re getting a one-week break for the New Year (most anime do take it) but happily, the Hunter X Hunter NTV schedule for January has finally populated with new eps starting on the 7th. Sorry for the false alarm […] Read more
It’s Shueshia’s world – they just let us use it. I didn’t go to Jump Festa last year – I was still pretty new to Japan, and Chiba seemed a lot farther away than it really is (about an hour with one transfer to Makuhari Messe, ¥480). In truth I’m […] Read more
I don’t want to say that episode was tense, but if my phone had rang my upstairs neighbor would have seen something like this… As arcs go, “Chimera Ant” pretty much redefines epic. It’s epic in terms of length, it’s epic in terms of scale, and it’s epic in terms […] Read more
This is a dangerous post for me to write. I’m at the point now where I’m harboring serious thoughts that no series should be as good as Hunter X Hunter for as long as this one has. I mean – it must be unfair or a sign of the apocalypse […] Read more
I don’t think there’s any doubt Palm drew the short straw when the jobs were handed out for this mission. It’s remarkable, the transformative effect Gon and Killua have on Hunter X Hunter. No matter how dark Togashi goes – and let’s face it, he goes incredibly dark, sometimes when […] Read more

A full trailer for “The Last Mission” has been poster here. I know it’s natural to be skeptical of non-canon movies, but I actually liked “Phantom Rouge” more than most – and this one looks pretty good. Read more
That’s a plot twist (just below the shoulder) that certainly would have livened up any episode of Hikaru no Go… It really is magic that Togashi can make a board game ep as tense as any anime episode in a very long time. There’s really no fancy explanations for it […] Read more
There are many remarkable things about this series, but it’s remarkable in and of itself that it can still surprise me after 104 episodes. I’m not at all surprised to see Togashi leave behind all of his main characters (it feels like it might be for a while) and […] Read more
I won’t say I’m surprised at the winner here (I voted for it myself) but this was a much bigger whitewash than I expected. Specialist carries the day, with an almost 3-1 margin over the runner-up, Enhancer. The field was tightly packed except for Emitter, which trailed badly. Not much […] Read more
