The weather has been mostly lovely around Kansai lately, but that just frightens me. Warm and pleasant at the end of April is a reminder of what’s ahead in the real warm months. Still, it’s a good excuse to be outside seeing and doing.
These pics are a mix tape from several different days of rambling. A couple from the Ikuta Matsuri in Sannomiya (wandered into by accident), some shots from the base of the beautiful Akashi Bridge in Maiko, near Kobe, a couple from the Fushimi Inari Matsuri… That’s one of my favorite places on Earth, but sadly almost all of their main festival is off limits to photos. After that we have the beautiful Fundo-in subtemple of Toufukuji in South Kyoto (that’s where I ran into this extremely charismatic crane, who really knew how to pose). Finally we have a trip of the Maysan cable/ropeway in Kobe, complete with a visit to Rokkosan Pasture (basically a gargantuan petting zoo) at the top. One of the things I love about Kobe is how nature is right on top of the city, and Mt. Maya is just another example of it.

– Re: weather forecast. Will we ever be graced with this blogger wearing his famed green striped yukata ( and the straw trilby with blue paisley ribbon if that’s still around? 8D ) and sharing the results with the masses?

Love also the easy access to culture, history and nature…Japan has really done a lot to preserve that while continuing to sustain its global technological and economic (less so these past decades) prowess.
