My Taste is Better Than Yours Episode 12: Boku no Hero Academia – The (Almost) Live Retrospective

It’s a big week in manga, as Boku no Hero Academia officially ended today after a glorious ten-year run. Samu and I wanted to share our thoughts on this landmark series as close as we could get to real-time, so we recorded a retrospective podcast this past weekend.

The two of us have a long history with Horikoshi Kouhei’s masterwork – we singled it out as a future kaijuu in a RC podcast when the manga was in its first year. I’ve blogged all 150 episodes (and counting) here, not to mention movies and OVAs (I’m somewhere well north of 100,000 words on the franchise). Every season has appeared on the relevant LiA year-end top 10 list. My Hero Academia and this site go way back.

What do we think of the manga ending – and how does the anime compare to the manga generally? Why is the fanbase so relentlessly negative? What are our thoughts about HeroAca’s legacy, and whether it needs a sequel? Tune in to the LiA YouTube channel for answers to those questions and much more in our biggest My Taste is Better Than Yours episode yet, or listen on your favorite podcast outlet!
