Mairimashita! Iruma-kun 3rd Season – 14

That was certainly a tale of two episodes, which is pretty unusual for Mairimashita! Iruma-kun.  Events started out in fairly normal madcap fashion, but the B-part was a reminder that things have gotten rather ugly in the intramural division of this Harvest Festival battle.  Up until this arc the Misfit Class has more or less been pulling in the same direction and had each other’s backs.  That had already taken a back seat here (as witness Elizabetta and Clara robbing Team Shota blind) but this time things got really ugly.

Watching Lead-kun’s desperate battle with himself in the A-part was certainly amusing (though not for Iruma).  Indeed, it wasn’t Elizabetta who came to rob him again but Orobas‘ illusions.  That comes as a considerable relief to Lead, who was more upset by all the nasty things Onee-san said about him  than losing the Vase of Endings.  The next step is for Lead to use his ability to try and locate Elizabetta so that he and Iruma can confirm she wasn’t behind the theft.  As a bonus for Lead, when he finally locates them they appear to be in an onsen bath.  He can’t see them, but that’s probably a good thing – just the audio was enough to put him on tilt.

The charm duo are not alone at the hot spring – Keroli is there too.  She invited them in fact –  specifically, to parlay.  Her target – Agares’ castle and the points contained within.  She doesn’t actually use their ability at all here though – it’s pretty much all Camui and the magical beasts in this attack.  The castle should be a sitting duck, but all those zaku that Goemon and Agares allowed to crash have more or less adopted Agares as their lord (much as the beasts have made Keroli their queen) and are willing to fight just about to the death for him.

The resulting battle is pretty ugly – surely fierce enough to freak Clara and Elizabetta out pretty good (and Iruma and Lead too, as it will turn out).  I must say this Harvest Festival event has not shown Keroli’s best side – she comes off as pretty cold and ruthless to say the least.  Agares and Goemon are formidable opponents, though – their training paid dividends just like hers did, and Agares has had the air of someone quietly S-class right from the beginning, just about.

So where does this leave Iruma and the Misfit Class generally?  He’s basically walked in on the middle of something that’s inevitably going to horrify him.  I mean, can you ever imagine Iruma turning on his classmates in this fashion in order to try and win a contest?  Knowing him it’s certain that he’s not going to sit back and let these two “enemies” destroy each other – as the heart and soul of the misfit class and a certified cinnamon roll, he’s surely try and intervene as the voice of reason.  Clara and Elizabetta seem likely to be a receptive audience, and probably Agares and Goemon too. But Camui and especially Keroli?  It’s going to require all of Iruma’s considerable good boy charm to break through there.

Something that’s kind of confusing me about this episode is the fact that if ANY of the Missfit Class doesn’t make it to a certain rank (I think it’s 3 or 4), then they ALL lose the Royal One.

My guess was that this would implicitly mean that Missfit Class Factions were off-limits to one another (i did think the Clara/Elisabetta point-taking thing was going to be a one-off incident), specially since the intro implies Agares and Elizabetta have the farthest to climb (they’re at rank 1, I think).

I guess I could be wrong, they ARE demons, after all.

  2. It’s also worth remembering that there will be other opportunities for them to level up to Dalet, the Harvest Festival is only one of them.

  3. I am also wondering if some of the Misfits have lost the plot here … setting up Iruma to give them all a reminder of what’s at stake.

This was a rather busy episode. First, we see Lead’s aftermath with his encounter with Elizabetta when Iruma catches up with him. Except, it wasn’t her and it was yet another illusion from Orobas. I could already tell that something was off when Lead described the scene. She’s seeking a harem of men and wouldn’t reject him outright like that. Iruma figures it out quickly too.

As Lead uses his abilities to seek her out and we get some onsen fanservice. Not only is Clara there too, but also Keroli. We’ve been seeing a bit more of the “demon” side from the past few episodes, like the teachers revealing that Iruma and Lead have the Vase and the Seed. Then, we’ve got the Keroli’s and Camui’s assault on Agares’ and Goemon’s stronghold. With beasts fighting the students, it also gets around the no-PVP rule amongst students.

According to the next episode preview, it does look like he’s throwing himself into the melee and getting a ride from one of Keroli’s beasts, no less.
