A funny thing happened on the way to polling readers on the 2020 anime year.  Someone got through the roadblocks and spammed the poll (honestly not all that hard to do) in favor of Eizouken.  Great OP, OK show – but this was 100% bogus, for the record.  It went from about 8th place to a big lead literally overnight, it’s not winning 2020 polls anywhere else, and I didn’t even cover most of it on this site.  So if you’re the one who did it, congrats, but you’re not fooling anybody.

The true winner, then, was Golden Kamuy 3 – but it was a lot closer than I expected.  I didn’t see Nami yo Kiite Kure as the runner-up either – that was a surprise.   As a reference, as it’s always fun to compare:

If I’m honest there are some pretty odd results this year altogether above and beyond the aforementioned one, but maybe it’s just a function of what a weird and truncated anime year it was.
