I’ve only been watching anime for a few years, so I’m not too familiar with a lot of the history/older shows and find your discussions very interesting. I also don’t keep up with anime news myself, so I enjoy hearing that segment as well. I think you asked about the relative length of the segments, and personally, I think it’s working well as is. The news segment and in depth discussion of a topic are my two favorite parts, so I wouldn’t want to see those curtailed.
