Just a few more sakura shots, this time from Himeji-jo. I’d been here before but wanted to go back for two reasons – first. they’ve finally finished the repairs that had been ongoing since 2009, and opened up the full castle to visitors. And second, the castle grounds were purported to have some of the best cherry blossom viewing in Kansai.
No disappointment on either front – the sakura were fantastic, and the castle resplendent in all its considerable glory. The caveat with Himeji-jo, sadly, is that it’s overrun with tourists this time of year. And unlike say, Kyoto, it’s such a limited space that it becomes difficult to really savor the moment.

March 31, 2018 at 10:35 amWow, you’re really travelling…a place a day…! When will you start your job, or have you started already? What will you do? Ignore me if I’m prying too much into your private life.
We’ve never been to Himeji Castle…! Looks gorgeous under the bright blue sky. When browsing through your photos, I was thinking it would be great if there were a like button…love the photo of the cat lazing on the roof top… :).

Starting work in about a week. Trying to fit as much in as I can, but the great thing about Kobe and Kansai is, you’re close to so much.

April 1, 2018 at 1:03 amOh that’s a lot of people. Good luck enjoying the dungeon. 😀
The Kokoen Parc next to Himeji castle is also worth a visit in my opinion but I visited it during the autumn period.
