Obviously this is an Osomatsu-san post, but it seems like an opportune moment to talk about Mujirushi.  If one were to ask me what Mujirushi is, the best answer I could give would be a question: “What would you get if you crossed one of history’s greatest mangaka, the Louvre, and Iyami?”.  The mangaka is Urusawa Naoki (Monster, Pluto) and yes, the end product is as bizarre as it sounds.  Mujirushi is a manga Urusawa is writing in collaboration with the Louvre, and Iyami plays a central role in the story.  It’s utterly weird, but I think quite wonderful, and I urge all of you to check it out.

Onto the moment at hand, this week’s Osomatsu-san:

• I said last week that of the sextuplets, it’s really only Osomatsu that’s an outright A-hole, and I think that’s true.  But I’d also say Karamatsu is definitely the kindest of the bunch, and it’s nice to see a chapter focus on that.
• Yes, Choromatsu, he’s timid too – I won’t take issue with that.
• It’s been my experience that every closely-knit group has a Karamatsu in this vein – someone who always gets asked to pick up the slack for everyone else, and rarely says no.  So what Totty says the real question is who’s going to take over if Karamatsu steps down, that’s very much on-point.
• Poor Choromatsu, just trying to do the right thing – no good deed goes unpunished in this family, of that we can be certain.
• The workplace sketch was amusing, but pretty random.
• Self-parody of Osomatsu-san’s ridiculous success has been a winning formula this season, and the third chapter was no exception.
• “Spare throats standing by“.
• Am I crazy, or was that a Maori war dance before the recording?
• Given how this skit came to an end, it’s rather a shame the lads got themselves castrated…
• The last line pretty much sums it up.
