OK, I think we’re solidly at the point where it’s just weirdness for its own sake now I still laughed sometimes, but… I don’t know, something’s missing for me at times this season. Plus I’m dealing with a family emergency at the moment and generally exhausted, so this is gonna be a short one.
- A parody of “The Fly” – definite potential there. And more Dayon and Dekapan is always good.
- That said, I thought this chapter peaked with the first gag – Dekapan inventing a machine that will combine any two things and using it to combine… curry and rice. Seriously, that’s hilarious on so many levels.
- After that, though – kind of a one-note gag repeating itself and leading up to an anti-climax.
- I’ll give full credit for this one, thogh – damn clever. In case you were wondering this is baseball phenom Otani Shohei, who’s an ultra-rare two-way player – a star both as a pitcher and a hitter. In other words, two players combined in one. He’s trying to come over to MLB this offseason – where he’s viewed mostly as a pitcher – and it remains to be seen whether his future MLB team will let him be a more or less full-time hitter as well.
- Then, the Jyuushimatsu-dolphin bit – I was thinking for a minute there we were going to get another serious Jyuushimatsu chapter, but mostly not.
- Again, I think the first gag was by far the best, even though I saw it coming a mile away – Jyuushimatsu arguing with the Onna-matsu dolphin trainers before revealing what he actually wanted was not to be a trainer, but a dolphin.
- Once more, this for me was kind of one-note gags over and over. It’s funny for pure random absurdity, but it doesn’t need ten minutes.
- I did like the “Full Monty” musical number to close it out, though. I was thinking that might be the actual ED. Also, kudos to Osomatsu-san for acknowledging that dolphin shows are pretty much a crime against nature to begin with.
