Yup, still 1977.
I’m still extremely pressed for time and the interesting premieres are starting to come hot and heavy now, so I can’t spare a lot of time on Reconguista in G for the moment. I did want to mention that I watched the second ep and found it better than the first, though I’m a long way for saying I’m sold on anything except the character designs. This is very, very old school, which is fine – but here it seems to being a whiff of old-school sexual politics that I find rather unappealing. That said I do like Bellri as a lead, and the plot seems to have some potential. We’ll see.

October 5, 2014 at 9:48 pmWell, Tomino did say that he wants this to be a feminist work, so he might be dipping into that sort of stuff so the show can refute it later on. I will say that there were some pretty good female characters in Turn-A Gundam, so I'm hopeful.

October 6, 2014 at 3:41 amNope. Loran is male. He just looked like a girl, so they had him disguising as one several times in the series.

Wait, that made me realize something. Raraiya looks like an actual female version of Loran. The only difference really is that she has a slight greenish tint on her hair.
