Not much to see here, I’m afraid.
Kono Naka ni Hitori, Imouto ga Iru! – 01
This was the fist show of the season that I didn’t manage to finish. There’s nothing particularly offensive about it, but even in a season as full of formula as any I can remember this one stands at as particularly drab and tedious. The story is a pretty dumb one to begin with – kid must find a mate before he graduates high school to inherit hos father’s corporation, and in order to do so he attends a school where his heretofore unknown little sister also attends. And she seems to have deigns on marrying him herself. I’d hoped that Nawa Munenori might be on a hot streak after R-15, but there’s nothing much here but clichés. I also found the visuals especially dull and lifeless. A complete waste of a decent cast.
Dakara Boku wa H ga Dekinai – 01
This one was a little better, at least having the merits to be an unapologetic fanservice series. And there’s a sort of nostalgia in hearing Shimono Hiro play another overwrought teenaged boy, as we haven’t seen as much of Hiro-hiro lately. We also have Endo Aya as the shinigami who comes to Earth and makes a contract with him to drain his energy – energy he replenishes with horniness (there’s a twist coming on that, too). It’s certainly dumb, but Boku-H at least offers a few good laughs, shameless raunchiness and a much brighter and better-looking visual presentation that Kono Naka. Not good, but at least not awful.

July 7, 2012 at 5:27 amI'm surprised you even managed to write a paragraph of impressions for them, let alone take screenshots of both shows lol. Though I can see that you really stopped watching it as you didn't get to that juicy part with Konoe at the end of NakaImo 😛
Well, that's okay I guess. These shows are sort of still in my tolerance. Leave these kinds of shows to us 😛

July 7, 2012 at 6:08 amOh yes. The Konoe scene in Incest Imouto was a very… interesting one. I think this anime should be called: my sister is among those five Gold-diggers: The Anime. Look at the show from the cynical view that the harem is after his money, and it'd actually be quite fun to watch.

July 7, 2012 at 6:08 amAh, I remember watching every series I downloaded to the end when I first started watching anime in 2007. Now 4-5 years later, I can barely motivate myself pick up more than 2-3 shows per season 🙁

July 7, 2012 at 6:55 amWell, I am skipping quite a few, but I like to try everything I think even has a remote chance of grabbing me at least once.
Spring was really good, with a lot of creativity and variety, so we were surely do for a season like this one. It means more rest for me.

July 7, 2012 at 8:22 amThe incest one lasted about 2 minutes with me and I expected an even better (faster time) from Dakara Boku wa H ga Dekinai, BUT unbelievably I watched the whole thing, without skipping some parts like I do whenever Chiyu comes on screen in AW or watching a bit getting angry and coming back a few hours later (Muv Luv), in one go.
And I dedicate that to the fact that the fanservice was, while in your face, not distracting. Adding to the humor rather than making it stupid. I think I also miss Mr. Shimono being ridiculous in an anime. Endo Aya seemed to have some good chemistry with him too. But above all else is because this was an ecchi anime, but not a moe blob one. There was very little in the way of what you'd call a moe anime and if it stays that way DakaraHDekinai and also HagureYuusha, which I thought was a bit similar and had a very unconventional lead for its type, may still be there by the time Fall comes around.
Who knew?

July 7, 2012 at 9:03 amI somehow made it all the way through the Imouto show but it was definitely the most boring show I've watched this season so far.

July 7, 2012 at 1:05 pmDakara BwHgD is basically Campione with a funnier protagonist and bitchier female lead, both shows being worse than Hagure Yuusha no Estetica, which has an alpha protagonist and a kind female lead.

July 7, 2012 at 4:36 pmMaybe I'll give that one a quick watch this weekend. I guess I can't justify trying these two and not Estetica.

July 7, 2012 at 6:18 pmEstetica's ep 1 is much better than Campione & Dakara. That the lead is just male and not a jerk really, really helps.

July 7, 2012 at 6:22 pmI actually found KonoNaka an easier watch than Dakara. Dakara is pretty straight forward for its genre (though some wackier aspects on the backside), but KonoNaka has room for a massive amount of cynicism and sarcasm. Obviously as the series is about a guy that would be a legitimate Harem-lead in RL having to deal with Gold Diggers improves the situation.
Granted, there's going to be a lot of fan service and it probably won't help the story, but it's at least worth sticking around for a few episodes. It probably didn't help me that I watched Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate right before, which might be the worst series of the season. Expectations were a little low after that.

July 7, 2012 at 6:44 pmThere was 1 thing I did really like about Dakara though: our MC has the "Liar, Liar" problem where he says exactly what he's thinking. I always like that, as it eliminates inner monologues and puts everything on the table, consequences be damned. It's also a nice change of pace from most animes.
