Here’s something very cool I wish had been around when I traveled to Japan: an animation map.
Printed by the Japanese government, it’s a nicely designed double-sided color map showing anime hotspots and otaku culture in Tokyo on beyond on the front, and (even cooler) a list of anime settings from shows like True Tears and Evangelion on the back. We could argue all day about omissions (no train journey from 5 CM Per Second or one of the great anime pilgrimages, Kamichu?) but this is a very good idea.
It’s funny, this love-hate relationship establishment Japan has with otaku culture. Bill 156 probably represents what most of them feel in their gut, but where there’s money to be made…
