Binan Koukou Chikyuu Bouei-bu Love! – 08

I miss Gero-san…

It’s a bit of  crazy week for me so some of the posts are going to be a bit short, including this one.  Sorry about that…

  • I’d judge this to be the most “serious” episode of Binan Kouko so far.  It certainly dealt with the most serious problem (Hikikomori Syndrome) for the monster of the week, and that leant things a bit more of a weighty air.
  • This week’s guest seiyuu was Matsuoka Yoshitsugu as Koumi Shou, the aforementioned hikikomori.  He lives above a konbini and…  Well, you know what he does – he’s a hikikomori.  As such he obviously makes a perfect subject for the sort of shenanigans Zundar gets up to, but given his situation this time feels quite cruel, really.
  • We got a focus on En-chan and Atsushi this time, and I guess it was their turn.  I hadn’t really noticed that they were especially best buds (like, say, Ryuu and Io) but their split was pretty dramatic once En-chan fell under Koumi’s spell.
  • The choice of a killer kotatsu as the monster?  Wholly appropriate.
  • It really seems as if it’s time for the master plot to kick on, but there were no signs of it this week.  Next week’s seemingly Arima-centric episode may signal that’s about to change.  At the very least it’s not a bad thing for the non-Kinshirou members of the Student Council to get some love.

    – It was a very cute kind of cruel monster choice I must say. May the transfer student get some love – on top of a new roof – after the healing Love Shower :,). Btw I laughed at Yumoto's 'lemme love you' as he tried to pull the kotatsu blanket. He's a beast. A. Beast. <— at least he was graciously subversive enough by leaving the two BFF the chance of handling the finishing moves and the giant Love Stick all by themselves :p.
    – Didn't you notice Green and Blue were relatively closer to each other? I thought it had been rather robustly hinted at through their grouping pattern and conversation – although Yumoto's enthusiastic mailing to Epinard (!) and him replying in kind (!) were a bit of a surprise. BroTriangle [and if we incude Wombat and the Prez is a BroPentagon] forming? :,D – .
    – Just when I feared they were gonna skip the cuddling we got the nitty gritty right at the end. With the mandatory afterglow blush ofc.
    – No aniki this week though.

Last but not least, ganbatte Enzocchi! *insert Yumoto-styled excited/exciting emoticons here*

Gōra-san makes a brief appearance at 21:56 (upper left) in the after bath scene where they are all gathered at the lockers.

  3. Damn, good eye.

-Taking a wild guess that Komi Shou comes from コミュ障 (pronounced komyu shou) lit. Communication impediment. Especially since Matsuoka's name tends to come up whenever people are talking about appropriate seiyuus to voice characters who have this problem.
    – Well at least after some tough love from the Battle Lovers, Komi is going back to school again.
    – So when a guy gets hime-dako'd they get teased about how light they are?
    – So are we gonna have a weekly 'Where's Aniki?' from now on? Or maybe he's just offscreen planning some finale worthy activity…
