Nekogami Yaoyorozu

This is just a quick recommendation for one of the real sleeper shows of the Summer.  I’m not going to start blogging it, since I don’t have time to do the shows I’m already covering – but I’m certainly watching and enjoying NekoYao.  The stuff I said in my First Impressions still applies, but what’s surprised me is the emotional depth the show is capable of, especially with the episodes surrounding Yuzu and her past (such as episode 6).  This is a show that has an ability to go from flat-out slapstick to fairly moving drama in a heartbeat, and that’s not too common.

In short: excellent show.  Nothing life changing, but well worth your time.  Haruka Tomatsu and Yui Horie are every bit as great as you’d expect (including with the OP and ED) but there’s more to both the cast and the charm of the show than just those two.  Check it out if you have time.

I've had my eye on this show before the beginning of the summer, but unfortunately it's on Crunchyroll's late-cast and since I'm not all that inclined to watch it else where, I am just waiting till it ends and start a marathon on it.

Glad to hear that it's doing really well. Makes me all the more anxious to get a crack on it.

And speaking of shows that have turned out to be excellent, Kamisama Doll's 7 … bloody hell, how did I go from ''I got nothing better to do on Tuesday's'' to ''Why isn't today Tuesday??'' The show had gradually progressed from decent to awesome. Mecha TV show of the year, hands down.

  2. Shh – I haven't watched KD7 yet!

Haha, my lips are sealed. I posted my own impressions, but since it's like 3 AM here I fear I rambled on my own impressions ._.

Nekogami is just one quiet surprise after surprise–I somehow I like that!

  5. Yup, I agree. This and KamiDolls are the two most surprising shows of the season.
