To Aru Majutsu no Index II – 6

I’ll make no bones about it – I don’t especially like Railgun. Oh, I like Biri-biri OK – she’s not the problem with that series, though I don’t especially think she’s a strong enough character to carry a show. But the premise in general and Kuroko especially don’t really do it for me. Frankly, I found Kuroko one of the most annoying characters in modern anime. In a word, she’s awful.

Normally, all that would be well and good. We don’t all have to like every show, and we’re all free to ignore the shows we don’t like and let their fans enjoy them. But the problem is that they’ve had their series, dammit – and an OVA too. It just doesn’t thrill me to see at least two episodes of Index hijacked and effectively turned into Railgun episodes. Especially ones that feature the execrable Kuroko so heavily.

That said, it wasn’t a total loss. We saw the return of Misaka and chibi-Misaka, and an appearance by Accelerator – even one as domesticated as this one – is always welcome. The buzz is that this is going to be a two-episode arc, and some fans are complaining that it’s rushed. That’s fine with me – they can’t go fast enough as far as I’m concerned. Get this shyte over with and give me my series back…

Actually, Index was not hijacked. This two episode arc was made in Light Novels long before Railgun Manga started. The similarity comes from the fact that Railgun Manga (on which Railgun Anime (as I reject to accept Anime as its adaptation)) was more or less inspired by (or based on) this novel.
